Job Overview

The Free State Department of Health is seeking dedicated and experienced Security Officer Supervisors to join the Bongani Regional Hospital team in Welkom. The successful candidates will oversee hospital security operations, manage staff, and ensure the safety of personnel, patients, and property through effective supervision and adherence to public service security standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a security environment
• PSIRA Registration: Must be registered as a Security Officer Grade
• Driver’s License: Added advantage

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

Applicants must have sound understanding and working knowledge of:

• Access control and movement of equipment & stores
• Security procedures (MIS, NISA, Protection of Information Act, Emergency Procedures)
• Stakeholder engagement and public service regulations
• CCTV surveillance and control room operations
• Leadership and people management
• Problem-solving and communication skills
• Computer literacy and report writing
• Fluency in at least two official languages of the Free State
• Physically fit and willing to work long, irregular hours (24-hour availability)

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage hospital security services, including CCTV operations
• Compile duty rosters, manage leave schedules, and ensure effective team coverage
• Conduct risk assessments, monitor patrols, and identify potential threats
• Investigate and report security breaches and incidents
• Maintain discipline and performance monitoring of security staff
• Manage access control for visitors and ensure secure movement within hospital premises
• Conduct fire hazard and safety checks regularly
• Oversee control of assets, equipment, and vehicles entering or leaving hospital grounds
• Ensure accurate completion of incident logs, registers, and reports
• Collaborate with Security Manager and SAPS regarding security-related concerns
