Job Overview
The City of Ekurhuleni is inviting applications for the position of Bus Driver within its Transport & Fleet Management Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating municipal buses on approved routes while ensuring passenger safety, compliance with regulations, and excellent public service.
This role is ideal for a responsible and service-driven driver with experience in passenger transport and a strong commitment to safety and professionalism.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 10
- Valid Code C, EC, or EC1 (Code 10 or Code 14) driver’s licence
- Valid PrDP
- Minimum 1 year experience as a bus or truck driver
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Driving municipal buses on approved routes safely and efficiently
- Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reporting defects
- Ensuring passengers pay correct fares and ticketing systems are functioning
- Completing trip journals and submitting them at the end of each shift
- Assisting passengers with information on routes, schedules, and fares
- Reporting route issues, delays, and accidents in line with procedures
- Maintaining order and discipline on the bus
- Providing courteous and professional service to passengers and the public
