Artisan Assistant Learnership – April 2021 (P14)

The Sappi Ngodwana factory needs a craftsman assistant to safely perform less complex maintenance tasks and assist craftsmen with complex maintenance tasks, thus contributing to the overall efficiency of the equipment.

This role reports to maintenance support.

The main responsibilities of this position are:

Maintenance of preforms, repair and revision of equipment related to air conditioning services, electrical, mechanical and instrumentation workshops
Obtain a license as an “authorized worker” in accordance with the Sappi lockout procedure and assist production personnel in the isolation process if necessary.
Comply with legislation: safe handling of refrigerant and disposal of fluorescent tubes. Identification, classification and elimination of waste in the appropriate waste streams.
Correct selection and use of tools for work and maintenance there.
Obtain licenses for various mobile equipment found at the Ngodwana factory site
Help craftsmen with breakdowns and maintenance opportunities and perform tasks according to skill level
Transfer and transport of equipment to the workplace.
Ensuring a safe work environment with the development of safety and cleaning strategies.

Make sure that the section complies in all respects with the relevant legal requirements.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Relevant NQF 4 certificate with math and science
  • Valid driver’s license
  • No experience is needed
